I went thrift shopping this weekend at my favorite spot and i found this magnificent 70s dress-
Impeccable, no stains, no holes all original buttons, the belt is missing but that easy to replace
I paired the dress with the Gucci booties i found this winter and the Victorian Hat found this Spring at another of my favorite spot in the hood - Atelier Vio-Li, it reminds me I'm due for a visit soon!

Meet my Dad Bernard!

My dad's life and stories sound sometimes like they came out of a Jack Kerouac book -
Bernard is born in St-Pierre et Miquelon, that's a french colony off Newfoundland- My father being  born French makes me technically French ,but i would have to fill out lots of paperwork to get  maybe a French citizenship -
It crossed my mind when i was younger, but now, i don't see the point -

Bernard left St- Pierre at a very young age, eager for adventure, he travelled all over Canada, hopping trains, working at anything he could find, making friends and braking many hearts!

He still at this time get anonymous love letters  from desperate  old flames

He landed in Montreal  in 1956 where he met my stunning Mom!
It changed his life - This is when he decided to stay a while which was appropriate cause i was on my way!
Bernard worked all over the world in mega construction projects

My Mom and Dad are no longer are together, my father remarried in 1976 but his second wife died about 10 years ago -
He worshiped his 2nd wife- It was a very difficult time for him when she passed away -

Since then Bernard has been living in a 5 stars retiring home enjoying life, writing poetry and contemplating life- It is said that when Bernard reads poetry the Ladies at the retiring home wait in line for hours for a chance to kiss the poet -
Highly skilled dancer, Bernard has been know to swept off a few Ladies in his time!
Life was not always easy but Bernard is a survivor!

I'm surrounded with poets!

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi Ladies, Mothers and Mothers to be!
It's the biggest business day of the year for florists and restaurant owners!
Hope everybody had its share of mother love!
I did!
Son and Mr D's daughter organized things this year, my daughter chose see her husband's mother this year -
We were a happy gang at our fav neighborhood bistro - Restaurant Cabotins
You guys who can read french check out the link  or better  if you reside in Montreal, this is one of Montreal's best French cuisine restaurant

I chose to wear  my 80s prom dress for the occasion!
I found this dress last night by accident in one of the bags i had stored in the basement
 What i stroke of luck!
Perfect for being Visible on Mother's Day!

fetedesmeres8

Today i was in the pink I say!
I'm truly blessed with such wonderful children ,family and extended family
I  know it sounds cliche!
But sorry it's life - The real one!

It wasn't always easy and it still not easy sometimes
Life is not always a glass of pink champagne - I'm staying in the pink scheme here you see!

I had my share of anxiety, problems, but i always kept my joie de vivre,  my optimism, my eccentricity, my taste for life!
I spent time on the psychologist coach when things went out of end, i tell you, and not ashamed to say!
I found my answers and went on life's wonderful adventure!

Eating out, that of course i can deal with, hahaha!
There are a lot of healthy alternatives these days!

Into the Light - How Yoga helped me

Hi Ladies!
Thank for all your warm comments
Hope you had a wonderful weekend
It officially summer in Montreal
I have been taking it easy this weekend
All is well now
But...
I was very nervous last Friday before a procedure i was having called a leep -

A leep is a  low-voltage electrified wire loop to cut out abnormal tissue in the cervix.

That said...

While i was waiting i read a passage of a book given to me by my Yoga instructor called

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success

I chose to read and excuse the coincidence, but in my world there are no coincidences ...
- The Law of Karma or Cause and Effect  -

image5

I got to this passage just before they call me in
- Coincidence again? hummmm...

Convert the adversity into a benefit, and transform the karma into a new expression...

Begin asking yourself, ''What message is the universe giving me?

What can i learn from this experience?

For example - If you break a leg while playing sport , perhaps the message is that you need to slow down and be more attentive to your body -

It got thinking, these last months have been stressful I kept myself extremely busy, looking for a job, starting my Etsy shop, going to interviews, blogging, commenting, taking pics for 2 blogs,  keeping up a big house, cooking, baking...what the heck was i thinking?

What is the urgency? what is the worst think that will happen if i don't get to the bottom of my what to do list?

I was stretching myself too much and this body of mine was telling me to slow down -

Slow down ok sure- Relax ya!...but can I? Can you?

image6

I love what i do
I guess i will have to give myself a day off once in a while and not worry about what  i'm missing on Facebook or in the blogging world or Etsy!
For God Sake leave a little dust and  eat out more often
Sit out and look at the sky and smile...

Then i got called for the Leep procedure.....

I was so nervous, the nurse was telling me all about the procedure
I was overwhelmed, scared...

And then yoga saved me again

I decided to let go, palms facing the sky, deeps breaths

Then all went well...

image8

Now lets have some fun!

I'm wearing

Top - Thrifted
Skirt on sale in my Etsy shop here
70s sandals - Thrifted

Love and Hugs

21 Balançoires - 21 Swings

Hi Ladies!

Wondering about 21 Balançoires ( 21 Swings)?

21 swings is a musical/multimedia installation on La Promenade des Artistes located  downtown Montreal.
This new urban place links Place des Festivals to le Parterre
Place des Festivals is among other things the place where the world renowned Jazz Festival takes place every summer in  Montreal

balancoire4

Izzy and I were dowtown this week to photograph stylish Montrealers for our blog Montreal Street Style

balancoire5

We had to try the swings!

Each swing is an instrument for you to discover. Depending on how you swing, it generates different notes.

To make music, you need more than one person. And to make that music evolve, you have to communicate with the other person, in one way or another!

But i admit it's a lot of fun and people are so thrilled when we ask them if we could take a picture

Sign of the time! Everybody wants their 2 minutes of fame -  5 years ago people would have tought that we were a couple of weird gals!

Makes me think...
